Drago's Seafood Restaurant [Warehouse District, New Orleans, LA]

This is the second time we've been to Drago's. The first was the original in Metairie. Delicious both times! This one is in the Hilton Riverside.

We started off with the charbroiled oysters. I think these are the best I've had anywhere! I had the shrimp and grits. Less spectacular visually than some other restaurants, but it was pretty good. Rosendo had lobster, very nice.

55 Fahrenheit [Central Business District, New Orleans, LA]

This was the Marriott hotel restaurant. It was nice, but not overly so. For appetizers, we had the deviled eggs with bacon and the charbroiled oysters. The eggs were fabulous and the oysters were good.

I had the shrimp and grits. To tell the truth, it's good but better at other places. Rosendo had some kind of beef which looked good. And Udaya had a nice vegetable and mozzarella  sandwich.

Daisy Duke's and the Palace Cafe [Central Business District, New Orleans, LA]

Dinner at Daisy Duke's was lackluster at best. The wine was horrible, I had to send it back. And I can't even remember what I had. Rosendo had the crayfish. And I can't remember what else. That's how unmemorable this place was.

And for dessert, we decided to go around the corner to Dickie Brennan's Palace Cafe. Wow! I loved it, will have to go again. We were going to get Bananas Foster, but I ended up getting the blueberry cheesecake after the waiter told us that one of the other waiters had inherited a blueberry farm and all their blueberries were from there. They had a glass wall to the kitchen which we sat next to. The pastry chef was right in front of us making the desserts. Nice!! And the blueberry cheesecake was wonderful. Rosendo had some kind of sorbet, also good.

Dickie Brennan's Steakhouse [Central Business District, New Orleans, LA]

Bill H came to town for a day, and he took us out on the town for a nice dinner at Dickie Brennan's Steakhouse. It was on the edge of the French Quarter just off Bourbon Street and Canal. It was delicious! He got a great bottle of wine, Chateau Simard Saint-Emilion Red Bordeaux Blend. Nice!

I ordered one of the specials, Three Tastings of Strip Steak. This was three 5 oz strip steaks: one with a wet rub, one with a dry run, and one was Waygu. The Waygu was pretty darn good, as were the others (which I saved for lunch and dinner the next day).

Bill had the Filet of beef, also wonderful. Rosendo had the Ribeye, yum! And Udaya had the local vegetable grill. She said it had a very nice flavor, but too many beets. I honestly can't remember what Derek had. :(

We ordered another bottle of wine, a Petit Paveil Red Bordeaux Blend. Also nice, but not as good as the first. For dessert, Bill ordered a wonderful cake made with sweet potatoes but tasted close to carrot cake. And Rosendo ordered the creme brulee, outstanding! The top was like a sweet crumble and not crusted over like most.

Muriel's Jackson Square [French Quarter, New Orleans, LA]

Lovely dinner with Rosendo at Muriel's one evening. Apparently, the restaurant is haunted! Look it up. :)

Rosendo had the Tomato courses. Everything must have tomatoes in it, he said it was pretty good. We started with appetizers. I had the cheesecake, which wasn't like a regular cheese cake. It was Gorgonzola cheese with crab meat. Different, but very tasty. Rosendo had something with a cucumber slice and tomatoes. Also tasty.

I had some kind of double Pork chop. So good, but huge! Rosendo had the Crab which was breaded and fried. And for dessert, I had the Pain Perdu Bread Pudding. Wow! And Rosendo had a tomato based popsicle flavored with basil. Different.

Fogo de Chão [Central Business District, New Orleans, LA]

We stayed at the JW Marriott on Canal. Attached was a Brasilian Steakhouse, the Fogo de Chao. It was typical of the genre. Nice buffet, tons of meat! However, the service by our waitress was less than stellar, and that sort of ruined it for me. One nice thing, they had the Pai de Queso or cheese bread. Nearly like what I remember.

Jaeger's Seafood and Beer Garden [Elmwood, LA]

Yum! Right near the office, Jeager's is delicious! I had the crawfish. Big and juicy. And the chargrilled oysters, also wonderful, but not the best I've had.

Oceana Grill [French Quarter, New Orleans, LA]

Rosendo and I went to Oceana Grill in the French Quarter. The one time that Udaya doesn't come with us, they have a vegetarian section to the menu!

We sat on the second floor. The A/C was turned down so low, it felt like an icebox. Even Rosendo said it was cold.

We had the chargrilled oysters as an appetizer. They were ok, a little heavy on the cheese and stuff.

Then I had the Ribeye steak with jambalaya and collard greens. Kind of sloppy, but it was more of a touristy restaurant. The steak was good, but there was a lot of inedible fat in it. Like a third of the steak was fat. The collard greens were delicious. I did not have the jambalaya - too many carbs.

Afterwards, we stopped to listen to a jazz band in the Legends Musical Park at the corner of Bourbon St and Bienville St.

Tableau [French Quarter, New Orleans, LA]

Went to Tableau next to Jackson Square last night with Udaya, Rosendo, and Jay. Sat outside on the balcony in the French Quarter. It was quite nice.

We had a Triple *something* for an appetizer. It was dainty and tasty.

I had the traditional Louisiana BBQ Shrimp and Grits. The grits were heavenly, and the shrimp was delicious. Rosendo had the Roast Duck Leg Confit, he said it was wonderful.
