Jacques-Imo’s Cafe [Leonidas, New Orleans, LA]

Waited over an hour to get into this restaurant. Went to the bar to get drinks, and were basically ignored by the bartenders. But, finally got some and wandered around before dinner. Nice area!

When we were seated, we were right next to the kitchen. The place was busy, busy, busy, and our waiter was definitely hustling. We had a cornbread appetizer, pretty tasty. Then Shawn got the Shrimp And Alligator Sausage Cheesecake as an appetizer, and I got the Crabmeat Stuffed Shrimp. Also pretty tasty.

For entrees, I got a Bacon Stuffed Quail, and Shawn got the Grouper with Crabmeat. My quail was delicious, but Shawn's grouper was not fully cooked. She sent it back for some more cooking time. They brought her out a new one, but it was not the Grouper. It was the Red Fish camouflaged to look like the grouper covered in crabmeat. She complained, but asked that they take it off the tab as she didn't want anything else.

They brought us a nice plate of various desserts on the house. I'm giving it a 2 out of 4 for the bartenders, the raw fish, the subterfuge, and the busy, hurried staff.

2 out of 4 stars
